Customs & Excise - NON UK Deliveries

Even though we make sure all the paperwork is in order, so your parcel reaches you without any problems, customs and excise in your country may charge a fee before releasing your parcel.

This could be for VAT, or just custom and excise duties.

The charges can vary depending on your country and the parcel contents.  Unfortunately, it is completely out of our control, and if it does occur, we are unable to do anything about it.

You are responsible for all custom and excise VAT and fees, and these costs are not refundable.  We are a small cottage industry business, and as much as we would like to, we are unable to absorb these charges.

In ths event, they will send you a notification advising you of the fee.  Once the fee has been paid, they will allow your parcel to continue on its journey to be delivered.

If you do not pay or abandon your parcel, it will be eventually returned to us, which will be at the cost of The Flickering Cauldron® & Kettle.  Once we have received the item back here, we will refund you for your parcel, less the original shipping fee and the fee charged to us for the return.

As the United Kingdom is no longer part of the EU new rules apply for European VAT.  Here is some more information for you from the European Commission.

Delivery Address Errors

Computer and phone keyboards are a wondrous thing, and sometimes have a life of their own.

You are typing in number 9 as your door number and ‘predictive text’ changes it to something completely different, or you have clicked the 89 together and have not noticed.

Please re-check your address before clicking confirm.

This is quite a common mistake made and parcels either get lost or end up being returned to us.  Once a parcel has been dispatched, we cannot change the address.  When a parcel is returned to us, due to failed delivery, we are charged for the return.

If this happens, we will refund your money, less the shipping cost and the return fee cost before payment.  If you would like your parcel re-sent to you instead of refund, we will send you an invoice for the new postage via email.  Once paid we will resend your order.

Post-Codes

Please can you use your correct postcode, 10% of orders are submitted either with no or incorrect postcode.  When this happens, it can delay your order, we will contact you via email to ask for the correct or missing postcode, as we will not guess where to send your parcel, hoping it's correct.  If we do not hear from you within 7 days, we will cancel your order and refund your money.

No Address Given

3% of orders have absolutely no information at all, no name, address, or email, whereby filing in the information is bypassed, before clicking on PayPal to make payment.  When processing to dispatch, your order is bypassed and put into a query folder, as it has no details, the order is then processed at the end of the working day or the following day, depending on how busy we are.  We have to log into PayPal to find your order, in order to locate your address and email details to populate your order. This takes time, so will delay your order getting to you.  If you do not want your order to be delayed, then please put your full correct address and contact details before ordering.

Courier & Royal Mail Deliveries

Quite often we will receive a notification from customers to say that they have missed the delivery, or the tracking says it's been delivered but it has not.

Royal Mail

More than often, it has been put somewhere safe.  Royal Mail are very good and will put it either in the porch or if you are known to them, an arranged safe place, and will leave a card to let you know.  If there is nowhere safe to deliver it, they will leave a card to say rearrange delivery or collect from your local sorting office.  If you do not do either, after 2-3 weeks the parcel will be returned to us.  If this happens, you will be refunded for your goods, less the postage.

Couriers

Couriers are slightly more creative than Royal Mail and a ‘safe place’ can be anywhere.  If your tracking states it has been delivered and there is no photograph as to where, these are just some of the usual places to check.

  • Inside, outside and behind rubbish bins.
  • Behind, beside and inside garages.
  • Under cars, or if on your drive unlocked, inside the car.
  • In your front garden hedges.
  • Check your back garden and in between fences.
  • Woodpile and coal sheds are also a favourite.
  • Not forgetting all outhouses, inside and out.

Couriers are inventive on where to leave your parcels, nothing can be discounted, check everywhere.

If your courier deems there's no safe place, they will not deliver and try again the next day.  They will often try over a period of 5 days before it gets returned to us.  If this happens, you will be refunded for your goods, less the postage.

They should leave a card to say they have delivered - ‘check shed’, but we have found this to be a random procedure, depending on the personal courier.

If they tried to deliver and cannot, they should always leave a card to say they will try to redeliver, or call this number to rearrange, although them leaving this, is also dubious.  For all re-deliveries please note they will not deliver to a different address.  They will only re-deliver to the address on the parcel.

If on checking your tracking it states your parcel has been delivered and you are not in possession of it, unless you know your courier personally, please contact us directly either on Facebook Messenger or email enquiries@theflickeringcauldron.com and we will check this for you immediately. Contacting Evri or Parcel2go will just frustrate you, as they will only talk to the sender of the parcel.

Warning

Even though we make sure all parcels are sent out with the correct postage on it, if a parcel has been sent undercharged for any reason, Royal Mail and the couriers would come back to The Flickering Cauldron® & Kettle Limited for the additional payment.  They will never contact you directly via text or email to pay the excess.  If this happens it is 100% a SCAM - PLEASE DO NOT PAY.

This scam is extremely rampant at the moment, and a lot of people are getting caught in its trap.  If you are in any doubt whatsoever, please contact us or your local sorting office.
